Pigeon
Hunting
The Blue/Gray or Spotted pigeon,
also
known as the Blue Rock Pigeon and
better
known in Argentina as "Pichon", is one of this country's most
fascinating game birds. They are not only fast flyers, they also decoy
quite well, and are found by the thousands. It is not uncommon for a
hunter to fire over 1,000
rounds in one day.
For our
pigeon hunts, there are no regulation limits to how many you can hunt, but we
limit our hunters to 250-300 birds a day. The best
time to hunt them is between March and October.
Just like our waterfowl hunts, the pigeon hunts are also great to combine
with the high volume dove shoots. We offer 3 different areas in the
province of Cordoba that we hunt depending on the harvest. Another
great hunt
location is in the Province of Santiago del Estero, which also serves as our duck
hunting area, providing opportunities to combine both duck and pigeon hunting
from our newly built "El Picazo" lodge.
We have a new area in
Formosa Province where you can hunt the Large “Picazuro” Pigeon from April 1st
to August 31st.
