The most frequently asked questions regarding 

Duck Hunts:

Where do I fly to for duck hunting?
If you are hunting in Santiago del Estero (Corrientes Lodge) you fly to Cordoba, Argentina.

If you are hunting in Santa Fe (Yatay Lodge) you can fly into Santa Fe Airport which is a little closer than Cordoba Airport.



How far is the drive from the airports to the duck hunting lodges?
The lodge in Santiago del Estero “Corrientes” is a 3 ½ hour drive from the airport in Cordoba.
The lodge in Santa Fe “Yatay” is a 3 hour drive from Santa Fe Airport.

 


How far is it from the Duck Hunting Lodge to the hunting area?
In Santiago del Estero it is about 30 minutes from the lodge and from Santa Fe is about 15 minutes.

 


Is there a limit on ducks?
We have two duck hunts per day, in the morning and afternoon. The limit is 30 ducks per hunt.

 


What is the season for duck hunting?
The duck hunting season commences May 1st and ends on August 15th in Santiago del Estero. 

April 1st and ends on September 15th in Santa fe.
 


What about waders?
Yes, bring your own chest waders with you.

 


What About decoys?
We employ the use of decoys in our duck hunts as well as "Mojo" decoys.

 


Should I bring my Duck calls?
Absolutely. I can't picture a duck hunt without them. Teal calls work well, and whistle calls work great, especially on tree ducks and pintails.

 


Will I shoot different species of ducks?
There are 14 different species of waterfowl in our hunting areas of which it is common to shoot 8 to 12 different species per hunt.

 


What about shells? What brand and how many grams of powder and shot size will we be using??
We use RD shells, a high quality local Argentine manufacturer. 

The shells are 20 gauge with 30 to 32 grams of powder and no.5 lead shot
 


How far is the drive from "Corrientes Lodge" to the Dove hunting lodges in Cordoba?
It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from the dove hunting lodges in Cordoba.


Can I hunt any other game in Santiago del Estero?
Yes. Perdiz hunting can be arranged in the afternoons, with the use of dogs. Arrangements must be made ahead of time to bring in the dogs. You will also find very good pigeon and high volume dove shooting in this area at certain times of the year depending on the crop harvest.

 


What is a Perdiz?
A Perdiz is a Tinamon. The Lesser is similar in size to a large quail and the larger ones are the size of a partridge or grouse. It is native to Argentina. Four different species are found in this area: The Lesser, the Greater, the Montara, and the Martineta.

 


Can we take a charter flight to the duck hunting area to avoid driving?
Yes. We can arrange a charter flight upon request given ample time. The cost depends on the number of passengers. Please consult with us. The rates are very affordable.
